When Paté was rescued in Chinatown about six years ago, she was a fluffy little yellow thing with a pink bill and purple feet. Her owners soon learned that once a duck “imprints” on you, it’s yours for life. Paté likes to follow them around their yard, digging for worms and bugs — a waddling exterminator who’s dramatically reduced the local cricket population. This daffy duck also loves to swim in her pond, displaying aquatic moves like the “splish-and-splash,” the “dunk-and-dive” and the “stretch-and-flap.” Her dislikes include rain (she runs for cover at the first drop) and helicopters (she quacks at them when they fly overhead).
