As always, Toluca Lake residents unleashed their imaginations during the month of October, transforming the neighborhood’s quiet streets into a wicked wonderland of spiders, skeletons, gravestones, ghosts and even a flock of carnivorous flamingos to welcome the Halloween hordes of trick-or-treaters.
The second annual Toluca Lake Halloween House-Decorating Contest sponsored by Tina Smith Homes added an element of friendly competition by offering awards for the best, most creative and scariest displays. Congratulations to the owners of the home on Moorpark pictured above, which was voted Best in Show!
On October 27, the third annual Toluca Lake Bike Tour of Halloween Homes, organized by the Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council, offered participants the chance to pedal past the area’s many spooktacular sights in safety, accompanied by an LAPD escort. Costumes were encouraged, and the 40 or so riders also enjoyed special Halloween treats provided by Tina Smith and Danielle Mihaljevich from Tina Smith Homes, as well as discounts from Sharky’s for a post-ride lunch. A new addition this year was the opportunity for adults without bikes to use a Lime scooter for free so they could join in the fun. “The residents of Toluca Lake do an amazing job decorating their homes and this is a fantastic way to see some of them,” says GTLNC Vice President Jason Friedman.
