Over 2,000 visitors flocked to Kling Street in Toluca Lake on December 21 to enjoy a winter wonderland while helping children in need. Founded by four elementary-aged residents in 2002 and now organized by a network of more than 60 local children and their families, Kling Street Kids brings care and comfort to the young patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles through its annual holiday fundraising event, which has become a beloved neighborhood tradition.
Among the day’s highlights were sledding on 12 tons of real snow, bands and Christmas carolers, pony rides, face painting, a video-game truck, carnival games and — new this year — a visit from Santa Claus. Through food, beverage and craft sales, plus a silent auction, donations and generous sponsorships from local businesses, the event exceeded its goal of raising $30,000, bringing Kling Street Kids’ total impact to more than $260,000 and counting.
