How long have you lived in Toluca Lake?
Tricia and her daughters moved here after her divorce in November 2013. Alex and her daughters joined them after her divorce in April 2019. We’re a TV sitcom in the making.
What do you love about the community?
Alex loves to walk around Toluca Lake and is always discovering new little pockets. We both love how friendly our neighbors are, especially now.
How are you handling the current situation?
First of all, we need to give a shout-out to Trader Joe’s on Riverside. They have been a beacon of light from the very beginning. They started distancing before any other stores did, their employees are patient and kind, and they have worked tirelessly to keep their shelves stocked. Absolutely amazing.
We’re both actresses who co-starred on The New Adventures of Old Christine and quickly became best friends. Humor gets us through a lot, so we’ve been making comedic isolation videos since the beginning of the pandemic. Sometimes when things are really dark, you’ve just got to laugh. You can watch them at tinyurl.com/vslmk3y.
We are so grateful that we have each other during all of this. It’s hard enough being a single mom, but being a single mom during a global pandemic is absolutely terrifying. The fact that we have each other for support is such a gift.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Alex’s biggest challenge has been trying to help her kids through the pandemic. Her daughter Ava is a senior in high school and is missing all of the senior-year milestones, and her other daughter, Jane, came home from college for spring break and was never able to return. Tricia’s biggest challenge has been co-parenting her younger daughters with her ex, because going back and forth between two houses right now is difficult.
How are you staying connected with the community?
We actually built a fire pit so we can sit out in the front yard and wave to the neighbors as they walk by. (We’ve become very handy with garden tools and mulch.)
What would you like to say to your neighbors?
Thanks for always waving back.
