The neighborhood joined together on May 11 for a morning filled with pancakes, fun and community spirit at the 16th annual Old-Fashioned Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, presented by the Toluca Lake Chamber of Commerce and LAFD Fire Station 86. All proceeds from the event, which made its long-awaited return after being on hiatus since the pandemic, benefited the fire station and the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen’s Fund.
Held on Fire Service Day, a citywide open firehouse celebration, the event featured tours of the fire station, fire safety education, a fire-themed kids’ zone with a bounce house and arts and crafts area, a silent auction, live music, special guests, photos with Toluca Lake’s very own fire mascot Sparky and more.
“Collaborating with Fire Station 86 is truly special. These firefighters are our local heroes, and being able to support them and their families through the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen’s Fund means a lot to us,” Chamber president Taylor Montana says. “It’s a way for us to give back and show our gratitude for their dedication and bravery. Working together on this event strengthens our community bonds and reminds us of the importance of supporting each other.”
