A crowdfunding campaign is seeking to help a local family cope with a devastating medical crisis. Ryan Morris of SRM Real Estate, the son of SRM founder and Toluca Lake Homeowners Association board member emeritus Scott Morris, was diagnosed in January with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare and serious autoimmune disorder where the body attacks its own nerves. He has lost the ability to walk and is now completely dependent on 24/7 care. Ryan also lives with Type 1 diabetes, which makes his care and recovery more complex. His family is heartbroken and the situation is financially overwhelming.
For community members who wish to help, a GoFundMe campaign has been established at gofundme.com/f/n7qgk-help-ryan-walk-again. Donations will go directly toward ongoing medical treatments and therapies to give Ryan the best chance at recovery, specialized care and equipment to support his daily needs, and rehabilitation and support services to help him regain movement and independence.
