Nala Walla Big Bang was named in honor of her dramatic entrance into her guardian’s life, which felt like “a cosmic collision with purpose.” She was rescued after being thrown from a moving car, severely emaciated and dehydrated, with four fractures and a broken hip that left her unable to walk. Her rescuer’s neighbor — whose own pit bull, Lucy, had passed away less than a month earlier — agreed to help care for the injured pup for a few days and soon fell in love, paying for X-rays, finding a generous local vet who agreed to perform surgery nearly at cost, and ultimately adopting her. Today, Nala has fully recovered from her broken beginnings and is thriving. She’s even been officially certified as a therapy and first responder dog — completing her journey from almost being discarded to becoming a source of healing for others.
